LockJar Tool Operation The LockJar system is designed for ease of use Tool Identification: The Jar is longer than the Enhancer and has a lock adjustment sub near the bottom. Serial numbers are located on bands near the center of each tool. Preparing the Jar and Enhancer for Operation: Calculate preset lock load based on weight of tool string below Jar and adjust accordingly. Note: The preset lock load does not increase or decrease impact load delivered to the stuck point. Instead, it simply defines the minimum surface pull required to meter the Jar to activation. Placement in the Tool String: The Enhancer should be placed just below the cable head and downhole tension device. The Jar is placed below the Enhancer. The conductive path in both tools are designed to allow Telemetry and Gamma subs to be placed between the Jar and Enhancer to create a more efficient hammer mass. Down hole Operation: The Jar and Enhancer will not interrupt or impede any functionality in the tool string. If a stuck situation is encountered, simply place the Jar in tension at any load above the lock setting and wait a short period for activation. If the tool string is not free after the first activation, slack off to reset the Jar and it is ready for the next activation sequence. Normal logging operations can be continued after the tool string is free. Post Job: Both tools are designed to complete several jobs before a full PM (Level 3) is required. Complete a low level PM unless activity, downhole conditions, or customer requirements warrant a higher level of maintenance.
